Mumbai police confirmed that Dharmaraj Kashyap, one of the accused in the Baba Siddique murder case, is not a minor. The court-ordered ossification test revealed his true age after Kashyap’s lawyer claimed he was underage. Consequently, authorities presented Kashyap in court, and the judge placed him in police custody until October 21.

Multiple Arrests Made

The Mumbai police are making swift progress in the investigation. They arrested another suspect, Pravin Lonkar, aged 28, in Pune. Lonkar allegedly handled Kashyap and the other shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, who remains at large. Additionally, police have detained Gurmail Singh, another accused, who is currently in custody until October 21.

Weapons Recovered

During the investigation, police recovered two pistols and 28 live cartridges from the two detained suspects. Notably, a police constable guarded Siddique when he was shot, indicating a potential lapse in security.

Connection to Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s name surfaced in relation to Siddique’s murder. A member of the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that Siddique’s ties to actor Salman Khan motivated the assault. Meanwhile, the police are verifying this claim. The Bishnoi gang has been linked to several high-profile incidents, including a shooting outside Khan’s residence earlier this year and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Government Response

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured the public that the perpetrators would face strict consequences. He condemned the murder, labeling it unfortunate, and emphasized that those responsible would not escape justice.

Political Reactions

The murder has sparked a heated political debate. The Congress party criticized the ruling BJP-led government for failing to ensure safety for its leaders. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh suggested that this incident signifies the government’s declining power. Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi echoed these sentiments, stating that the murder underscores the law and order crisis in Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) expressed distrust towards the Shinde administration. In addition, Sharad Pawar of the NCP called for accountability from those in power. In contrast, BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain labeled the opposition’s remarks as petty and insensitive.

Final Farewell

Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his office in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai, while celebrating with firecrackers. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was laid to rest the following day. Prominent figures, including Salman Khan, attended Siddique’s funeral to pay their respects.
