Bihar Election Result Today

Bihar Election Result Today: As counting begins for the all-important Bihar Assembly Election 2025 at 8 AM on Friday, the first results show a major comeback for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. As of today’s trending news, the ruling NDA coalition is out in front in early trends as it shows it has crossed the 150-seat threshold and is positioned to potentially return to power.

NDA Leads in Distant Votes, BJP is now over 50-point mark

By 9:30 AM tracking trends are showing the NDA is leading in 152 seats, while Mahagathbandhan is leading in 117 seats. The BJP has also fired an early advantage to their coalition by leading in 77 seats and surpassing the 50-point threshold in distance votes.

Postal vote counting is still happening and may also change during the day, but the NDA appears to be quite clearly ahead at this juncture.

Main Candidates: Tejashwi Yadav Leads in Raghopur

Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate, is ahead in Raghopur, a very positive sign for the opposition. Maithili Thakur, a famous singer running for the NDA under a BJP ticket, is also up in Alinagar, another very positive early sign.

There are also several notable candidates such as Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Tej Pratap of JJD, and Rajesh Kumar, the state Congress party chief, whose home districts are also very much in focus as the day develops.

Nitish Kumar Seeks Historic Fifth Term

The final outcome of all 243 assembly seats will in turn determine if JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister, is able to achieve a historic fifth term. Voters participated in elections on November 6 and 11 in two rounds which produced a record of 67.13% – strong public participation.

Most exit polls seem consistently to predict that the NDA will prevail in the elections as the winner. Tejashwi Yadav dismissed those exit polls – he is confident that Mahagathbandhan will form the government with a “resounding majority.”
While we have atleast a few early rounds of counting underway, initial trends so far suggest a different scenario.

What’s next? Final Results Expected Later Today

As the initial rounds widely favor the NDA -most in state sources are seeming to think that Bihar has a similar pattern of electoral results as well. But you still have two rounds counting to go, so both coalitions will wait until more substantial results develop before each coalition confirm certainty of the results. Keep an eye out for ongoing updates as the political future of Bihar develops, marking this as one of the key features in trending news today.
