Food Delivery Agent Murder: In Bengaluru, a startling case of road rage has occurred. A 32-year-old Kalaripayattu teacher, along with his wife, has been arrested. It is for allegedly killing a 24-year-old food delivery man after a disagreement over driving. The incident has caught the public’s attention. This has been prominent in news coverage on channels across India.
The circumstances of the event on the night of October 25
The events unfolded at approximately 9 p.m. on October 25 at Nataraja Layout, JP Nagar. The accused were identified by police as Manoj Kumar, a martial artist from Kerala, and Aarati Sharma from Jammu and Kashmir. The victim was identified as Darshan, a resident of Kembattalli. At the time of the incident, he was attempting to deliver food. He was driving when he struck Kumar’s car, causing damage to the back view mirror.
It has been reported that Darshan apologized for the minor accident while quickly leaving with his rider, Varun, as he was on his way to a client. Kumar is said to have been upset about the accident, made a U-turn, followed the scooter, and hit the scooter from behind, which the police noted was intentional. Darshan and Varun were thrown onto the road and while local people quickly transported Jaswanth to the nearest hospital, Darshan was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Investigation and CCTV Reveal
Initially, a hit-and-run incident was filed by Darshan’s sister against an unidentified person at the JP Nagar Traffic Police Station. However, once police went through CCTV footage from a nearby building close to the scene of the accident, the investigation took a disturbing turn. The footage showed the occupied driver swerving his vehicle deliberately toward Darshan’s scooter before driving into him and Varun.
A senior police officer stated, “It was not an accident.” The driver clearly slammed into Varun and Darshan from the rear and subsequently fled the scene. “Clearly, it appeared intent and planned.”
After the news, the Puttenahalli Police upgraded a new suspected murder dossier.
Couple returned to scene of accident
In a twist, a police CCTV located the couple returning to the scene of the accident on their way home at approximately 9:40 p.m., only 40 minutes later. The footage derived the two masked adults parked nearby the incident and gathering car debris from the accident site. This time their faces were clearly featured in video, telling police who they were.
Officials assert that the pair’s choice to return to the site for evidence was a significant blunder leading to their speedy identification and apprehension. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Lokesh Jagalasar, confirmed that the couple admitted to the offense after being arrested.
Judicial Custody and Investigation
The suspects appeared in a local magistrate’s court and were ordered held in custody for 14 days. Investigators are reviewing the husband’s claim that he acted alone, but that the wife accompanied him to retrieve parts from the vehicle. Officers announced that both of the two suspects are in custody and are facing murder charges while their investigation continues.
Officers added that the victim of the incident, Darshan, was unmarried, and was survived by his parents and brother. Darshan’s family is requesting the toughest punishment for the accused.
A Serious Discussion about the Public Dangers of Road Rage
This troubling event should serve as a reminder of how road rage can sometimes lead to deadly scenarios. The incident in Bengaluru illustrates the importance of individuals exerting emotional self-regulation, mindfulness, and sympathy toward one another.
