Jharkhand Air Ambulance Crash

Recently, there has been a horrible air ambulance accident in the Jharkhand district of Chatra. It resulted in a loss of all seven crew members aboard the aircraft. Wednesday saw officials confirm that the deceased had been taken to Sadar Hospital in Chatra where they will be autopsied. This accident has made headlines and is now one of the most tragic stories recently to have occurred in our country.

The Beechcraft C90, which is being flown for Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was traveling to Delhi from Ranchi. This was when it crashed Monday evening near the Simaria area of Chatra.

Crash Occurred Near Tree Line Approximately 20 Minutes After Takeoff

According to authorities, the Beechcraft departed from Ranchi at approximately 7:11 PM on February 23, 2017 There was communication with air traffic control until approximately 20 minutes into the flight. At which time the flight departed from CTRL over the next 10 minutes. It is believed that the flight lost contact with CTRL at about 7:30 PM. Subsequently crashed in the Barretty Bridge area of Simaria, located well inside a forest in the Chatra district of Jharkhand State.

According to Mr. Vinod Kumar, Director of Ranchi Airport, it will be necessary for an official investigation to determine the cause of this crash. But early reports indicating that there may have been some form of adverse weather conditions at the time of the crash.

According To The DGCA, There Had Been No RADAR And Communication Signals Approximately 100 Nautical Miles From Varanasi Before Losing Contact With Kolkata ATC.

All Seven Onboard Were Killed

The Authorities Confirmed That There Were A Total Of Seven Individuals Onboard (Including Two Pilots). In Relation To This Incident SDPO Shubham Khandelwal Stated That The Bodies Of Those Involved Were Located And Sent For Autopsy.

  • Sanjay Kumar
  • Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta
  • Sachin Kumar Mishra
  • Archana Devi
  • Dhuru Kumar

According To Deputy Commissioner Of Chatra, Keerthiree G, The District Administration Had A Rapid Response Search And Rescue Team To Respond To The Scene Immediately.

An Air Ambulance Was Booked For A Sanjay Kumar A Burn Victim In Chandwa, (Latehar) Suffering From 65% Burns.

The Patient Was Patiently Awaiting An Air Ambulance At Devkamal Hospital In Ranchi To Transfer Him To Delhi For Further Treatment. The CEO Of The Hospital, Anant Sinha, Stated That The Family Decided To Move The Patient To Delhi. The Patient Exited The Hospital At Approximately 4:30 PM And Then The Plane Departed Later That Day.

What Was Meant To Be An Important Medical Evacuation Ended Up Being A Sad And Tragic Event.

Investigation Underway

The DGCA confirms that an in-depth investigation by the AAIB into this aircraft accident has commenced. The incident involved a Beechcraft C90 operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd of New Delhi. It operates six aircraft.

In addition to assessing meteorological conditions, technical specifications, and communications logs, investigators are attempting to identify reasons for this accident.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren expressed condolences to the family and friends of individuals lost in the accident. Also, he offered his prayers for their loss.

While this tragic accident is in the process of being investigated, it highlights the need for inquiries into aviation safety and emergency. Also, medical transportation procedures as per the recent news updates.
