Sonam Wangchuk Ends Fast, Fast-Track Courts Announced

Sonam Wangchuk, an activist, has finally ended his hunger strike that lasted for 26 days. After the government made written commitments concerning his demands regarding the NEET issue. The overall protest continues with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) still demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Sonam Wangchuk Finishes His 26-Days Hunger Strike

Cherring Dorjay Lakruk, co-convenor of Leh Apex Body, confirmed that Wangchuk ended his strike. It was with the presence of two Union Ministers. According to Mr. Dorjay, the government issued written guarantees that all criminal cases against protesters participating in the protests would be dismissed. This is as long as they had no relation to any violent act.

The reports show that the Centre has committed itself to take compensation into account for the families of NEET test-takers who were alleged to have committed suicide as a result of the exam scandal.

CJP Will Continue Demos

Wangchuk ended his fast today but the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has said that the agitation will continue until the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. CJP founder Dipke said that he was relieved to hear about Wangchuk’s well-being but stated that the search for accountability still remains.

Government sources say that a CJP team is expected to meet the Union Ministers on July 24. But the venue of the meeting is not known yet. The organization has not made any official statement regarding the meetings.

PM Modi Issues Steps on Paper Leak Cases

Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks up on NEET paper leak in social media. He termed paper leak an injustice to millions of students and said that strict actions have already been taken.

He informed that the criminals are in custody and that the government acted within last two and a half months. Also, he mentioned that special courts were formed for cases of paper leak so as to give speedy justice.

Delhi High Court Appoints Special Judge

To support its initiatives, the Delhi High Court has appointed Anu Grover Baliga as the Special Judge for heading cases involving paper leaks and other irregularities in public examinations. This is expected to speed up legal proceedings in various prominent educational issues.
