Mumbai Police Detain Woman Over Threat to UP CM

Mumbai Police have arrested 24-year-old Fatima Khan for making a threatening call against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She’s an IT graduate, allegedly issued the threat on November 2 via a call to the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Cell. According to officials, Khan has shown signs of mental instability, which may influence the ongoing investigation.

Threat Details and Demands

In her call, Khan warned that if Adityanath did not resign within 10 days, he would face the same fate as recently assassinated Maharashtra leader Baba Siddique. This threat triggered immediate action by the police, given its alarming content and recent violent incidents. Mumbai Police are now probing the case to uncover any potential motives or connections to other groups.

Connection to Baba Siddique’s Death

Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, was killed last month in Mumbai by suspected members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang (read here). This assassination has fueled concerns about rising threats to public figures, especially those connected to political and religious roles. The timing and nature of Khan’s threat have raised red flags within law enforcement, who are closely monitoring any further potential threats against other leaders.

Police Action and Increased Vigilance

Mumbai Police have now heightened security for Adityanath. The investigation will also determine if Fatima acted alone or under external influence. Authorities plan to assess her mental health further, given her unpredictable behavior during the arrest.
