Jaffar Express Targeted Again in Latest Attack
Due to another attack, the Jaffar Express is once again in the headlines. Trying to rekindle the train’s turbulent past of being targeted by armed outfits in media discourse. It is infamously known for hampering operations by Pakistan’s security forces. This train frequently remains within the crosshairs of armed groups like the Baloch Liberation Army and TTP. It is most recently claimed that maintaining security in the area is still highly problematic.
Many an attack by this train could be accounted for over years along this path
2018: bomb attacks on the train to foil the establishment of rail services;
January 2023: Bolan explosion derailed the train, injuring 13;
February 2023: explosion on Quetta-Peshawar road resulted in one death and multiple injuries-onto the train.
