Ketan Agarwal Murder: Scooter Ride and Hoodie Add New Twist

A lot of progress has been made by the Pune Rural Police in their investigation into the alleged murder of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal. It was with the completion of a reconstruction of the crime scene at Lohagad Fort. It appears that additional information regarding the supposed conspiracy involving Siya Goyal and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, was discovered during the course of the reconstruction. The timeline of events since the events of June 18 have now become the focus of trending news today. As police continue to look for evidence against both suspects.

Officers Create a Timeline of Events

Sunday morning, the Pune Rural Police, together with 20-year-old Siya Goyal, recreated the events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death on June 18 at Lohagad Fort. The three-hour-long reconstruction began at about 6:30 a.m. under tight security. It was intended to recreate the path/locations/timeframe leading up to the death of Ketan Agarwal.

According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Singh Gill, the reconstruction was helpful in verifying the whereabouts of the suspect. It provided investigators with a much better understanding of the sequence of events leading up to the alleged crime.

The Alleged ‘Sit Down’ Signal was Preplanned

An important finding during the reconstruction was a signal that was allegedly used prior to the alleged push that caused Ketan Agarwal’s death.

According to police, Goyal stated that she crouched down. As if drinking water or tying her shoelaces, to signal Chetan to push Ketan Agarwal off the cliff.

Investigators utilized a mannequin of the victim’s height and weight to reconstruct the incident and analyze how it occurred based on the defendant’s statement.

Signal Providing Additional Protection for Siya Goyal

The authorities have claimed that the signal also served a secondary purpose. By sitting down on some chairs, Siya Goyal would have been out of reach of Ketan Agarwal’s hands at the time of the reported attack.

According to investigators, the accused feared that if Ketan were to attempt to grab Goyal as he was falling, she too would have fallen into the gorge.

The authorities believe this serves as illustration of the planning that went into this particular incident. Also, that this particular event is currently one of the most discussed stories on social media.

Scooter Ride and Change in Appearance

Further, the investigation revealed that rather than driving a car to and from Lohagad Fort from Pune. Chetan Chaudhary allegedly traveled approximately 90 kilometers by scooter in attempt to avoid being monitored at toll plazas. The police seized the scooter that was used during the journey.

Authorities also reported that Chaudhary climbed the fort while wearing a hoodie. They took the hoodie off when he arrived at the event wearing his black t-shirt. Put the hoodie back on when he was leaving in order to conceal his identity.

Ongoing investigation

The authorities state both defendants confessed that they had been to the fort before to scout a good location as well as perform the practice on how to commit the crime.

The authorities continue to confirm locations of these alleged practice runs. The defendants are expected to appear before the courts as the authorities have requested extended detention for investigation purposes. Furthermore, Goyal’s attorney has challenged the legal effect of statements made during police custody. Specifically that any confession by itself would not be to show the admissibility of evidence per the Indian Evidence Act. The investigation is still on-going and the charging document has not been filed yet.
