Karnataka has made strides on the digital transportation front as it has brought in WhatsApp ticket booking. Along with One Karnataka Mobility App, bringing together all four RTCs under one roof. This development is aimed at providing better travel in buses to passengers and making their travel easier and hassle free.


The launch is one of the milestones in the recent technology in India. It demonstrates how digitalization of services is changing public transport system in the country.


WhatsApp Ticket Booking Is Now Available for RTC Buses of Karnataka


Passengers can now book tickets for RTC buses through WhatsApp for Karnataka State Transport Corporation (KSTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and Karnataka Kalyana Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC).


In order to book the tickets, users simply have to message at +91 6364940880. The WhatsApp is interactive help desk for travel and provides information on routes, booking for tickets, payment for the tickets, etc.


Passengers can also cancel their booked tickets using the Cancellation Option on the WhatsApp where they have to provide their PNR, Mobile Number and transaction password received at the time of booking.


One Karnataka Mobility App Integrates All RTC Services


CM D.K. Shivakumar launched the KSRTC AWATAR 2.0 app along with “One Karnataka Mobility App” under the Karnataka government’s 100-day initiative at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.


This newly developed application integrates the services provided by all the four Karnataka RTCs into the same platform, eliminating the need for multiple apps.


The main features of the new app are:

  • Safe login with booking history.
  • Easy ticket booking and payment.
  • Access to journey history.
  • Complaint registrations on all RTC services.
  • Complaint tracking and escalation.


The objective of the application is to ensure seamless travel for the passenger in Karnataka.


Stage-wise Launch of Digital Bus Passes and QR Code Verification


The Karnataka government announced that the digital monthly bus passes will be introduced in a phased manner through the new mobility app.


Passengers will be able to:

  • Apply for the monthly bus passes online.
  • Receive and manage their digital bus passes.
  • Use QR code verification while traveling.

An Important Initiative for Intelligent Public Transport


The launch highlights the focus of Karnataka on digital governance and smart mobility solutions. The state aims to simplify public transport systems for its daily commuters by consolidating various aspects of public transport such as ticketing, complaint management, cancellations, and digital passes in one platform.


The WhatsApp booking option is expected to help people who prefer to use a familiar messaging app instead of needing to download multiple other apps.
