Recently, the question of whether or not to remove Nida Khan (the Human Resource (HR) Manager of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO Division, Nashik) from the company has become very contentious. Khan was also serving on the Internal Committee established pursuant to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act. He is charged with addressing complaints of workplace harassment in trending news today.

Who is Nida Khan?

Nida Khan is a graduate of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Previously, it was the responsibility of Khan to respond to employee questions and issues. Also, ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements. Khan is now facing allegations of having failed to respond to a significant number of complaints of workplace harassment (specifically sexual harassment). It is filed by female employees.

Investigators have reported that, during their investigation, there were multiple women who reported that they had been sexually harassed while working at TCS. Many of these crimes were reported to the investigators. Apparently “swept under the rug” or ignored by the internal HR process and/or the internal POSH process.

Allegations Against the HR Manager

In light of these allegations, many of the victims of sexual harassment have filed criminal complaints and police have filed FIR’s at police stations near TCS. The allegations allege that Khan did not take any action (investigatory or disciplinary) on any complaints of sexual harassment made by the victims of sexual harassment who filed complaints with TCS.

She has been charged with several serious crimes. Such as criminal intimidation and insulting the modesty of others, as well as an additional indictment for coercion.

Investigators are now looking into possible systemic failures within the agency above and beyond the acts of individuals. They purportedly believe that many of the victims may have been coerced into romantic entanglements through false promises leading to harassment and exploitation.

The scope of the inquiry is also broadened by the attempts to find evidence of coerced religious conversion, inappropriate workplace behavior. Also, the possibility of additional factors in the case through significant surveillance footage review.

What Caused This Incident?

It was first discovered when a woman claimed that her colleague had tricked her into believing that he was going to marry her. As the investigation began, more women came forward with similar allegations.

It is revealed that the majority of these alleged events took place between February 2022 and March 2026. The allegations include unwanted touching, inappropriate comments and behaviours, harassment, and forcing eating behaviours on the victims. A major break in the case occurred when law enforcement conducted an undercover operation. They arrested a suspect in the act.

Current Investigation Status

As of now, there are nine confirmed cases and seven individuals presumed to be involved in these investigations. Many suspects are currently being held with law enforcement continuing to monitor the investigation as it unfolds.

Enforcement agencies have provided potential for further arrests as the Special Investigative Team (SIT) continues to conduct investigations. There continues to be ongoing monitoring of the situation. The related workplace regulations and corporate responsibilities within all of India.
