In a follow-up operation, Coimbatore police found the suspects in a temp apartment near the Vellakinaru area. When officers went to arrest the suspects, the men reportedly attempted to flee the scene. This resulted in all of them suffering leg injuries from police fire.
“They were attempting to escape, and the police had no recourse but to shoot them in self-defense,” stated Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan. The three…were brought to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for medical treatment. One head constable was among those injured during the pursuit.
