Cost of Living in Manali: A couple that lives in the beautiful Himalayan hamlet of Gazan nearby Manali in Himachal Pradesh has intrigued the masses on social media after sharing their monthly costs of living and working in the mountains.
Divya and her partner, Saurav disclosed their expenses through an Instagram video titled “Living in the mountains, Episode 1.” Their in-depth analysis revealed that a comfortable lifestyle in the mountains would cost about ₹50,000 a month.
Living in a 4BHK in the vicinity of Manali
The couple lives in a 4BHK apartment while they run a homestay near Manali. Divya said that those looking for smaller rented flats should expect to pay about ₹15,000 for a 1BHK and about ₹25,000 for a 2BHK.
The Couple’s grocery, dining and fuel charges
According to Divya, the couple prepares most of its meals themselves. They have to spend ₹10,000 on groceries each month and an additional ₹5,000 on dining out. Fuel is not much of an expense since they walk a lot in the area. They still manage to spend around ₹3,000 per month on fuel.

Living in the Himalayas also helps them save money in some utility bills. Divya mentioned that the water supply is complimentary, whereas the electricity bill is approximately ₹1,000 monthly. Despite the fact that nature is often at hand, and many trips can be taken free of charge, the couple spends around ₹3,000 a month on hiking.

With all expenses accounted for, Divya finds that their monthly cost of living comes to around 50,000 rupees, including rent, food, gas, bills, and leisure activities.
