Marubeni’s ₹1,000 Cr Investment to Power Future City Telangana

Hyderabad, April 18, 2025- In an important development for Telangana’s industry. It was announced that investments of ₹1000 crore for a cutting-edge industrial park will be made. It will be as part of Future City Telangana by Japanese multinational Marubeni Corporation. The announcement was made during Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Japan. A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between the state government and Marubeni Corporation.

A Frontline Investment for Future City

The proposal for the new industrial park will involve a phased development on 600 acres. Moreover, it will create a worldwide ecosystem for Japanese multinational corporations (MNC’s) and other MNC’s establishment of future manufacturing base. The proposed industrial park may lead to another ₹5000 crore investment in the Future City Telangana project. This will establish Telangana as the leading destination for global manufacturers. Revanth Reddy stated that the park will be the first investment into Future City. India’s first net-zero planned city, create over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs and has the potential to alter the economy of the state immensely. It will also lead to additional employment opportunities.

Focus on Mecha-Co Manufacturing Industries

The Industrial park will provide manufacturing facilities to high tech manufacturing industries, specifically:

  • Electronics
  • Eco-friendly medicines
  • Precision engineering
  • Aerospace
  • Defense

These sectors align with Telangana’s strategy of embracing new technologies in India and becoming a hub for advanced manufacturing.

“The Marubeni industrial park will be one of the first of its kind, which is extremely impactful to enhance the ecosystem of economic skill and improve livelihoods in Telangana,” stated Revanth Reddy.

Telangana’s Strategic China Plus One Strategy

As global companies pursue alternatives to their manufacturing bases in China through the call for China + 1, Telangana is establishing a competitive alternative. Revanth Reddy mentioned the state’s robust infrastructure, business practices, and talented people as considerable advantages.

“We would like to ensure that Marubeni and all subsequent investors receive seamless, world class business and investment experiences in Telangana,” the Chief Minister stated while pledging his availability and desire to help the investment.

Marubeni’s Faith in Telangana

Dai Sakakura, Executive Officer and COO of Next Generation Business for Marubeni, expressed excitement after the meeting with the Telangana delegation. “We are excited by the CM’s vision for Hyderabad and Telangana, and want to be among the first to identify opportunities in this space.” Sakakura noted.

Marubeni Corporation, a diversified company across 65 countries, with over 410 subsidiaries and 50,000 employees, is known for its work in sectors including aerospace, energy, infrastructure, and real estate.

Development of Creative Sectors

In addition to securing the Marubeni investment, the Telangana Rising delegation visited the headquarters of Sony Corporation. The group talked about Sony’s animation business, Crunchyroll, and explored possible relationships in Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding VFX, gaming, and animation industries.

CM Reddy also revealed plans to develop a state-of-the-art film city in Telangana, which will be able to provide full service production facilities for international entertainment companies.

This investment not only enhances Telangana’s place as a destination for high-tech and sustainable development, it also solidifies the industrial park in Future City as another milestone in Indo-Japanese collaboration, and reflects the growing adoption of recent technology in India across various sectors.
