Noida International Airport Welcomes First Passenger Flight

On Monday, it marked a historic milestone for the Aviation Industry in India. This is as the first-ever commercial flight arrived successfully at Jewar’s Noida International Airport. It was a significant milestone because it marked the official beginning of passenger operations at the highly-publicized airport.

IndiGo’s Flight 6E-2278 departed Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow & landed at Noida International Airport on schedule, at 7:55 am, based on its schedule. The airport was opened earlier this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, 2026.

Celebrating a Major Achievement

There was much celebration amongst both passengers on-board the plane & them having safely landed. They were celebrating a new chapter in Jewar/Noida. Upon arrival, the commercial flight received a tradition “water cannon salute”. It is used in major aviation events to represent their significance.

On its return flight, IndiGo 6E-2279 will depart Noida Airport at 6:55 pm & arrive to Lucknow by 8 pm.

Additional Airlines Expected to Start Flying Soon from Noida Airport

Akasa Airlines will begin daily flights from Noida International airport starting June 16 to both Bengaluru & Navi Mumbai airports. Establishing Akasa Airlines as the second airline operating regular scheduled service from the new airport.

Cargo operations are also expected to start up at noida international airport shortly. Following completion of formal procedures. On June 11, the Noida International Airport Ltd. or NIAL announced the inaugural flight taking a domestic flight to & from the airport on Tuesday, June 17 of this year.

“Domestic air cargo is extremely important in enhancing the connectivity and economy of Uttar Pradesh.” This is seen as very positive for the future of Uttar Pradesh’s transportation and economic system. Given that thousands of people currently make their trips between Noida and Lucknow using either Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Or some type of road transportation. The availability of this new flight will greatly reduce the amount of time it will take to fly between Noida and Lucknow as well as provide more convenience to all of those people flying between these two cities.

In addition to the state-of-the-art navigation systems, it includes an ILS for instrument arrivals and a modern airfield lighting system. Security will be greatly improved through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) surveillance technology. This is combined with the deployment of 1,030 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and the establishment of a dedicated police station from the Uttar Pradesh police on the airport property.

With cargo and commercial flights now operational, Noida International Airport is anticipated to emerge as a vital aviation center in northern India.
