Reasons for the victory of Vangaveeti Radha Krishna in Vijayawada mayoral elections

The mayoral elections drew a lot of interest as Vijayawada has historically been regarded as a stronghold for Telugu Desam Party (TDP). However, due to seat sharing arrangement by NDA, the JSP was allocated the mayor.
The independent candidacy of A.B. Venkateswara Rao, supported by the Congress and Left parties, was a new dimension to the battle.

Top NDA leaders such as Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath and MLAs Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao and Gadde Ramamohan worked hard for Radha Krishna’s campaign. The result indicate the support of members of the TDP, JSP and BJP within the alliance.

NDA performs well in Vijayawada municipal elections

NDA’s results reflected its effectiveness in the divisions of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. Results of 82 out of 86 divisions have been declared.

TDP claimed victory in 49 divisions, JSP got 19 and BJP won four. Thus, the total winning divisions of NDA comes to 72. YSRCP managed to win eight divisions, while one independent candidate and one CPI candidate won one division each.
Counting was delayed because of heavy rain caused by Cyclone Murasu, and it thus moved to early Wednesday morning.
This result is a huge breakthrough for Andhra Pradesh politics, and it is one of the major recent news updated coming from the state.
