During the huge crowd for the holy dip at the Sangam in the Maha Kumbh Prayagraj Stampede happened. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath immediately intervened. He asked the pilgrims to be calm and follow the instructions, not to believe any misinformation. The stampede happened in the morning, due to the large movement of devotees around the Sangam Nose. Though many were injured, the administration provided medical care and assured the public. They are managing the huge crowd of 8 crore pilgrims. Yesterday 5.5 crore pilgrims took the holy dip, the scale of this event is massive. 

PM Modi and Amit Shah Closely Monitoring the Situation

The Indian government is keeping an eye on the situation at the Pushya Mela in Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi and HM Amit Shah are in touch with state officials and trying to get things done immediately. Meanwhile, the opposition is criticizing the state government for its response to the event, saying it was unprepared and more concerned with self promotion than public safety. Despite the challenges, the government has made elaborate arrangements for crowd control for the huge number of people. CM Yogi Adityanath has asked both the saints and devotees to follow the guidelines, all ghats on Ganga are sacred. The Samajwadi Party has suggested transferring the plans and responsibility of Maha Kumbh to the Army for better management. 

During the festival, the government is keeping a vigil to solve the problems and ensure the safety and well being of all the people participating in the festival. Opponents’ criticism reminds us to find the balance between crowd control and the spiritual essence of this historic event.

The authorities have a message for all the devotees and saints attending the Maha Kumbh. U.P.CM Yogi Adityanath has therefore asked not to create a demand to come to Sangam Nose and not to promote or spread wrong information. Government’s top priority is to give problem free and safe travel experiences to all the pilgrims.
