After so many years of supporting and taking care of the family of her husband and children while in the public eye, Sunita believes that she’s now earned a name, respect, and an individual identity.

“Of course I’m Govinda’s wife, but can’t I also have my own identity?” Sunita states that women should be recognized for being married to famous people. Also, they should also be recognized for being who they are themselves in addition to that.

Drawing a Parallel With Jaya Bachchan

Sunita made a reference to an incident from the life of the well-known Bollywood actress and politician Jaya Bachchan. She has vivid memories of hearing Jaya Bachchan speak passionately in Parliament after being referred to as “Jaya Amitabh Bachchan” and not simply “Jaya Bachchan.”

Sunita commented on the fact that Jaya Bachchan is a legendary actress with an incredible career, and she asked why it is acceptable for women to be known by their husbands’ names unless they achieve something on their own. “She is an icon.” She continued, “Amitabh ji is right beside her, but why can’t a woman have a separate identity?”

Though she did not name anyone in particular, it was clear that she knew what those rumours said. Even though she didn’t mention anyone specifically, she hinted at her knowledge of the gossip.
