TVK Upset with Political Actions

Party sources say that such a caution comes under the umbrella of ‘TVK restlessness’ due to some alleged secret dialogue between DMK and AIADMK trying to put actor-turned politician Vijay on power.

TVK had emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly winning 108 seats. Yet, since Vijay tends to give up one seat due to res lakouposiitions in wir nctions the party’s strength in the Assembly is now 107 MLAs.

Joining hands with Indian National Congress, which has 5 seats, the alliance total becomes 112still short of the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly.

Number Crunching of DMK and AIADMK

DMK, led by M. K. Stalin, won 59 seats in the Assembly elections held on 23 April, while AIADMK, under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami, got 47 seats.

Based on Ramachandran’s sources, the two Dravidian parties may even consider coming together, at least in a tactical way, in their fight against TVK formation of government this has reportedly created a deepening rift within Vijay’s camp, which sees that ignoring the largest party’s power is totally unjustifiable.

Though, senior leader of TVK remarked that even with split result of the election biggest party must be given chance to form government as per democratic norms.

Continue to strive for the majority

TVK is currently in talks with several regional partners like the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Left parties, and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to try and reduce the gap for a majority.

Yet, no formal announcement of their alliance has happened so far, which keeps the drama of the political future of the state open.

Political tension has covered Tamil Nadu

The recent news updates shows that the present deadlock has caused great political tension in Tamil Nadu. If negotiations fail in the next few days, the proposal by TVK legislators to resign en masse might cause a very grave constitutional and political crisis.

Experts believe that the alliance discussions and the governor’s decisions will be the determining factors in who eventually forms the government in the state.
